I shifted My Gym Time
It’s 9am.
I get away from my desk.
I close my laptop, feeling a sense of pride about the work I just did.
Get up, rush to the bathroom, and change into my clothes.
I go and grab a certain packed bag of mine.
Hurry downstairs.
Put on shoes.
It’s time.
THE TIME.
Time for the absolute best part of my day by a mile (even work Flow can’t beat it):
The Gym
Every day, religiously, I go to the gym at 9 am. And it’s epic.
You know that feeling of excitement when you get to see a great friend again after a while?
It’s THAT kind of hype.
But..
Not today.
Not anymore.
Something tragic happened over the last days.
I.. broke my schedule.
I did the unthinkable - and changed my gym timing.
For some of you reading that might not seem like a big deal - but I’ve been treating my 9am workouts like a sanctuary ritual, as the only thing keeping me sane, stable and happy in darker times, and by far the best mood booster in the entire world when my days were great already.
I’ve been going to the gym at 9am for the past 1.5 YEARS.
For months I didn’t miss a single day (and refused to incorporate rest days).
I’m caffeinated and energized at that time, I know 80% of people going at exactly that time, and it’s the most fun part of my day.
Believe me - making this decision was hard:
Shifting the Gym to the afternoon.
The ‘why’ is pretty simple - I wanted to test if I could do more business work and see if my days overall and in general would play out to be more productive.
Long story short - yes, it seems that way.
The average hustler might now burst out - ‘why don’t you just don’t go to the gym and work even more?!?’
I mean - hustler has a point, doesn’t he?
If my top priority is business at the moment.. why not just put in 16-hour work shifts every single day on repeat?
I think you already smell some irony here, don’t ya.
We know that exercise is mandatory to keep yourself sane. Training is crucial to keep energy levels high and steady. Getting your body moving is necessary for peak performance.
There are no excuses:
To perform mentally, you must exercise.
That’s why I go for a walk every single day, even if it’s cold outside.
That’s why I still go to the gym 5x a week, even if it’s not at my preferred times.
That’s why I stretch, hang from a pullup bar and never sit down for too long - so my body is able to power my mind.
It’s self-explanatory, your mind and body are connected. They function well together and in harmony.
Yet?
Exercise is only one part of a bigger equation - so what else makes your body function so good your energy literally breaks through the roof the entire day? (and yes- at this point, I feel like I’ve gotten very close to cracking the code on this CRUCIAL question)
Multiple factors - sleep, diet, even how much light you get in your eyes.
A touch too much to cover today.
But - how to prime your body into a war machine for peak performance is a chapter in my upcoming giveaway, launching next week.
Keep an eye out for that if you want to never feel tired again.
Until then - go hit the gym for me (at whatever time is best for you).
See you soon,
Henri
PS: Give me your best guess at what the title is. If you guess it (somewhat) correctly, I’ll show you a first sneak peak :)
Hint: Energy is not a word in it.
